About Ember Speech

Ember Speech Pathology is a private mobile speech pathology service based in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and surrounding areas. Mobile services mean that we come and see you in the home, childcare, school, or community settings (e.g. park, café, day program site). This allows each individual to receive the support they need in an environment that is familiar and comfortable for them. By coming to you, we are also able to better demonstrate how strategies, techniques and practice can take place in a real life and practical setting, using the tools that are available to you.

Ember Speech Pathology’s mission is to help individuals achieve their communication goals, whatever they may be, and reach their maximum potential in all facets of life, no matter what their age. We focus on helping to achieve those goals through individualised and interest-based therapies to ensure engagement, participation and enjoyment throughout the journey.

Erin McKee – Founder and Principal Speech Pathologist

Ember Speech Pathology was founded by Erin McKee out of her passion for helping, empowering and advocating for others. Erin is an experienced Speech Pathologist who’s career has centred around working with individuals of all ages with speech and language difficulties, and disabilities including autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability. She has also spent time working within aged care settings supporting those with age related communication and swallowing difficulties.

Erin’s journey as a Speech Pathologist is a very personal one, built on the foundations of ensuring that everyone has a means to communicate with the world around them, and that the world around them has the tools to listen. Erin is extremely passionate and takes pride in helping individuals learn the skills that they need to communicate and advocate for themselves so that they may be better understood by those around them. Erin believes in working closely with each individual client, their family and other key members in their lives, and building strong and trusting relationships to increase therapeutic success.

Erin is also very dedicated to providing the best possible services to those who she works with, and as such, regularly takes part in professional learning and training opportunities to ensure that she remains aware of current treatment practices.

Erin is an avid dog lover! She spends most of her time with her three dogs, Hugo, Jeffrey and Lana. Erin’s work as a Speech Pathologist seeps into her life with her dogs. She spends a great deal of her spare time training her dog Jeffrey a vast range of skills. Erin has taught Jeffrey to understand and respond to over 60 words and gestures, however he is yet to say more than “woof”!
